How possible is it for credit cards passwords to be leaked out during online-shopping?

My mum have this worry of her credit card passwords being hacked by viruses or spywares in the computer and therefore disallows me to shop online. I wish to know how possible is it that the password will be leaked through these viruses or spyware. Please elaborate if you know exactly the answer :) thank you

1. There are only 2 ways this can happen 1. if your comp is already comprimised and some keylogging software installed ( get some spyware Removal program to counter that) 2. If the website from where u are shopping is hacked then the hacker gets the whole database of details t
2. Assuming you are at a trusted site that uses 128bit encryption there is no way for anyone to gain any information over that connection. However if you are infected with a keylogger or trojan then it may be possible for someone to gain that information.
3. Do not open your secure sits when browsing other sites. Also Take care to close the winow of a secued site after every visit. Donot try to open unsecure sites in the the window where you have opened secured site. You always safeguard your PC with Anti virus and with anti spywares.
